Can anyone help me identify this tree? It is growing at my friend's house in Hawaii. The flowers are brilliant yellow, they almost look like tuberous begonia flowers when they are fully open. Another plant (that I don't have a photo of) that I need to identify is in my garden in Seattle. It is a compact perennial (about the size and habit of creeping phlox) with small bright, pure blue flowers (about half the size of a dime) that have four lobed petals, the largest one on the top. In the center of the flower are two small pure white stamens (?) that stick straight out in a V like the old fashioned tv antennas. Any help much appreciated. This is my first post to this site, so please bear with me if I did anything wrong.

  2. Tree in Hawaii

It looks like the double form of Cochlospermum vitifolium, a very showy tree that blooms while it is leafless. It is native to Costa Rica and other parts of Central and South America.
