Its almost november and I want to move some shrubs. Do I need to wait for the deciduous ones to go completely dormant? can i move the evergreens now?

In your zone you might want to wait until end of winter. Partly it depends on what specific kinds each are. Some are much hardier than others, regardless of what kind of leaf retention they have. Some deciduous shrubs are much hardier than other deciduous shrubs, and so on.

    Thank you
The end of winter is such a long way off -- oh well!! What do you think about moving the evergreens?

Depends on what they are. Need someone who lives in your area, who has tried fall transplanting of same kinds to chime in. There have been related discussions on GardenWeb, maybe look at one of these if nothing much develops here. Link to GW available here in box on right side of page, otherwise typing "gardenweb forums" into a search engine brings it right up.
