I inherited a beautiful yucca when i moved house. It is now around 10feet tall, but is in the middle of the garden, so blocks the view - the previous owners didn't realise it would grow that tall.
I would like to move it nearer the side, but a few friends have said it may die if it is moved. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, if you like the original placement of the Yucca and only have issues with the height, you can top it to the desired height, replant the crown in the other location once it's dried off, and both parts will probably flourish. I've never actually attempted to move a whole Yucca all at once; I've always just topped and moved the crown.

A lovely side-effect is that the new growth on the original trunk will be a great deal bushier, rather than going straight up.

Many thanks for the advice - it is actually the location that is a problem (as well as the height). But thanks anyway.

Well, you can always top it in the manner I described above, replant the crown in the new location, and simply take up the base. Or you can do the above and attempt to move the base according to the methods in the link Natureman has posted.

Thanks for the advice - the link natureman gave was useful, so for a better chance of survival, I think I will wait until the end of spring.
