    Hello;
    I have a friend has Douglas Fir tree in the original pot for about a year. He is wondering what time of year is best to transplant the tree into the ground. Also what area in his yard should he plant the tree (exposure-wise)?
    Thanks in advance for your input!

    from pot to ground anytime the ground is workable but, I would say fall is best as the temps are cooler and water is usually more available. Roots will continue to grow as the above ground parts become dormant, until it gets to winter, they will start out again a bit earlier than the foliage as well likely.

    Full sun, well drained soil, not too close to houses (or other foliage) as they get pretty big.

    Thanks so much for your input. I will suggest to him to plant soon in full sun as mentioned.
