Last summer I saw a beautiful trailing rose in one of the local nurseries. I made a note of the name but have misplaced it. I am sure I would recognize the name if I saw it but my internet searches for 'trailing roses' have turned up no results. Would anyone have an idea as to how I could find a list of trailing roses. This was definitely not a climber or one of the ground cover varieties. Thanks.
Roses are classified by the Royal Horticultural Society into about 25 categories (scroll down on this page). Assuming by trailing, you mean that the rose is a groundcover, I searched in the RHS Plant Finder for: Rosa GC (roses that are categorized by the code GC, or groundcovers) and it came up with a list of 124 records. Hope that helps.
Same cultivar might be on web sites of rose suppliers. Or the same retailer might have it again this year.
Thanks for your help Ron. I can't see it on the list you recommended so I'm going to try the same retailer.
Try going at a very quiet time of day. Ask at the office if they would be very kind and let you have a look at the invoices for the roses that they bought in last season. If you speak to them very nicely it MIGHT just work.
They have a few different outlets and the nursery where I saw the rose is not their head office but I'll still try. Fortunately they have very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I have found the name of the rose I was looking for, thanks to my son who just happened to take a picture of it along with the tag. It is rosa Tanabamar Caramba.
