    Please,

Our dog has repeatedly gotten into eating many of the seeds - see picture - and for the past 10 days - he's been very sick - fever...

Can anyone identify this plant and if it's toxic to dogs... also, what's the antidote - if there is one??

    thanks,

Could it possibly be Quercus phellos, willow oak?

Sorry to hear about your dog. My best suggestion is get him to a vet ASAP! The stuff obviously IS toxic. Take samples of the leaves and acorns?fruits?nuts with you. Perhaps the dr. will have had other animal patients who have eaten the same plant. Call your local poison-control number and describe the situation: perhaps they could help you. (Kids might ingest this stuff, too.)

Welcome to the Forum! I am sure that this tree will be positively ID-ed for you very quickly.

    Hi!

    It's an Elaeagnus (angustifolia?)

Agree, looks like an Elaeagnus. The fruit of these is edible, so the dog's condition may have some other cause.
