    Re: tomatoes

I would like to know why our beautiful tomota plants just up and die? The leves start curling up and eventually the whole plant dies. Someone told my husband it was tomato wilt and there was nothing you could do about it. We buy disease resistant plants, but so much for that. We move our garden around every year and the same thing happens.

It sounds like your husband could be right about the problem being wilt. When you purchase your plants make sure that they are resistant to BOTH type of wilt that attack tomatoes. I don't know the names exactly but one starts with an "F" the other with a "V" (something like Fusilium and Verticulium). If you have both wilts present in you garden and the plants are only resistant to one strain, that could be your problem.

That would be Fusarium and Verticillium. Try taking affected plants to local Cooperative Extension office.
