I lost 8 big cedar trees last summer due to no water and lots of heat. Have just planted 10 forsythia plants in place of the missing trees and now have water going to them. I have several small tomato plants given to me-could I plant them in the row as well just for this summer?

Looks very healthy. Good color and vigorous. Forsythia can be a pain due to the dead branches that must be removed as the plant ages. They look great when young and have vigorous growth. I have two bushes at the back that I now dislike, due to yearly pruning of dead branches.

I wonder why heavy pruning of dead branches makes you dislike your forsythia. You'd think it would make them look clean and tidy. :)
