I couldn't post a reply to a thread I found and couldn't send you an email. I apologize for putting this on here to anyone who may be offended, not my intention. Steve, I would rather say 'Mr. Steve', as I have been raised in deep south Louisiana and it is a form of respect. This is in reply to your apology thread. OMGosh!!! I actively seek out your posts in threads as I consider you an expert!! I have learned much from this site and your posts. I also learned the (to me) number one best aroid site out there is !!?yours?!! Wow!! I didn't read all the replies to your apology, but the people who wrote ugly are apparently jealous! I have used your methods, ids, recipes (what I call aroid mix), and site countless times, I've recommended it to others. I've sent links to it to countless people. I would like to apologize for the er, um, ahhh, ?people? who have been ugly. Please, please don't stop giving your advice, and sharing your knowledge. To the moderator, if this is moderated. If you need to not post this, could you please send it on to Steve? I'd greatly appreciate it. I did not know the exoticrainforest site was his, I have told people of 'photopro's advice, I have shared his site. I just want him to know, he has some serious fans out here and that his advice and site have proved to be quite helpful many times over. Along with several others on this site, I've mentioned him as an expert to lots of people. Ok, I'm going to quit rambling, I think I've kinda made my point. Please get this to Steve one way or another. Thank you so much, God bless, Beth
My lack of knowledge was made knowledge by Steve (photopro). I too looked for his e-mails. His contribution for my mates and I was so useful we activley collect them now and find they are great additions to the garden. Liz
Liz my 23,000 litre tank has been overflowing lately, we have that cyclone off the coast, I would send some if I could..... Ed
Hi all, Lorax, I deeply thank you. Liz and Ed, Thank you as well for posting replies showing support. I am SO jealous of where you two live! Australia, wow! I SO wish I could trade with all three of you!! Thank you all again, God bless, Beth
I have just joined this forum to post about Steve. I recently joined his forum and love it. I am hoping that whatever was said does not impact his forum or him sharing what he knows. I think it is just wonderful that he is following his passion. I have lots of questions about my plants have only started asking them. I will request that whatever was said does not stop or slow him down. I am learning so much and joy sharing what I know and don't know. I just created a small Rainforest in my desert and need lots of help to keep it going. I feel he communicates in a kind and caring way, so my request Steve is to keep on going. Steve, You are awesome! Chris 2 PS I am using the same nickname here as in the Rainforest forum to help some know who it is.
I too miss Steve (photopro). I do not know what has happened, but these forums are the poorer for his absence from them. His generosity in giving his time to share his expert knowledge here IS missed.
Folks, Steve was gravely ill when he stopped posting here - it was a combination of sickness and annoyance that finally stopped him, I think. He has since recovered a bit, but still spends most of his time in his conservatory or in conversation with the aroid botanists. I'm not sure if he's coming back here, but he's still active on Aroid-L and by email.
I agree, he was a great poster. I think some miscommunication between himself and myself contributed to him leaving, and the forums are poorer for it.
Thanks Butterfly and all of you have responded to her post. I will again try to contribute as best possible to the aroid forum on UBC but must add any responses will be as well researched as possible before I post. There is still a great deal of bad information on the internent regarding aroids but I guess those "old wives tales" will just never go away. Steve
the fact that your comments are ALWAYS so well researched (and invariably spot-on) is what we've missed, steve!
