Identification: To identify this vegetable.

    I have sown a packet of 'Nantes' carrots and lots of these feathery type plants are growing in the rows where the regular looking carrots are. they have a single stem from the root and the feathery leaves branch off alternatively left and right. Can anyone identify them for me?

    Or fennel. Fennel seed and carrot seed look similar...
