Tips for Transplanting Bloodgood in Portland, OR? It is early spring here in Portland and I've been trying to decide when the best time to move my Bloodgood might be. It has been planted in my yard for almost 2 years, but I am moving in with my fiance and have a strong sentimental attachment to the tree - however I'm terrified of damaging or killing it. It was a small caliper when I bought it and is maybe about 5' tall now. Last weekend the whirligig's were coming out, with leaves soon to follow--I assume? (novice gardener here!) Any advice you have on how and when to move it with the least damage would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
If just starting to flush you can probably get it to move now with some extra care. Otherwise, fall - if possible for you - would be much better.
