I'm currently involved with a historic garden restoration in Gloucestershire, England and we've recently found an area that was originally a fernery with a few conifersa mixed in for good measure. Sadly the original plants weren't listed and the ones that are there now, I fear may be later introductions. The main tree I need to find out about is a Thuja occidentalis 'Rosedalis' which is now around 6ft in height and 6-7ft wide and quite scrappy in appearance. It doesn't look old enough to be an original but I can't find any reference as to when it was introduced to the UK or into the gardening world at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
