    Looks like Agaricus ssp.
I don't know if there are any Amanitas with dark underside of the cap. But my second thought is Amanita ssp.

Thank you Sulev for the confirmation, and the useful link.
Interestingly, the article mentioned that the cap is 2.5-4 cm across.
Other references also say it is a small mushroom.
The cap of this mushroom as shown in my photo has a diameter of 12 cm (4 to 4.5 Canadian $2 coin width).

I don't expect this mushroom to be exactly A. comtulus, but the colors are very similar. That's why I suggest it is Agaricus. AFAIK Stropharius does not have dark underside.

In case of Agaricus family their smell is often useful property of determing / confirming the species. Did it smell like anise?

The description of the various macro features in the article is exactly what I saw. The only thing that does not fit is the size. Unfortunately, I did not smell or taste the mushroom and would never know. I am happy to label it as Agaricus family.
    Thank you very much.

Agree with Stropharia ambigua or similar Stropharia.

    Thank you Frog.
I was originally not too far off on this one.
