    Hi
On further inspection I'm thinking that the leaves were probably snail munched....however, the soil is infested with these tiny whitish/translucent worms. Could they be fungus gnats. Thanks for any help.

If they were fungus gnats larvae you would also see a lot of tiny mosquito-like insects flying close to your plant. Since you don't mention any, it tells me that your little worms are most likely nematodes.

Are these good or bad nematodes? They don't look too good and what the heck are they doing in my potted hosta. None of my other potted hostas look like they have this problem.
    thanks
