Thorny Tree What is it

    in my back yard there grown a thorny tree, the thorns are about 2 inches long te tree has rough vertical deep crevice bark two-tone Gray, the leaves are Heart shaped with gagged edges all around the, attached is a photo, it blooms about two weeks after my dogwoods, and again in late summer barring tiny red "fruit" looks like tinny red apples.

    Downy Hawthorn (Crataegus mollis), maybe?
