Mr Smarty Plants sent me here to ask you a question:

I have a very fast straight up growing plant that I cannot find any information about. I have looked at a book of all the Thorny plants in Texas and it is not listed. I can find no such book for the entire USA.

It is woody at them stem, and it turns green about 3 feet up. It sways in the wind with no problems.

To the best of my ability:
The leaves are elliptic with cuspidate tips. The leave margins are entire and they are attached petiolate and they grow alternately kinda like a helix. They are dark green and kind of waxy looking.

Each leaf has a GIANT spike 2 inches underneath it. The spikes ARE sharp and with time they dry out and become small VERY sharp spikes.

The plant is growing very fast, about a foot a week and it has come up out of a hedge. It is in almost direct evening sun, but gets 3-4 hours shade in the mornings.

I will try to attach photos here.

    Thank you for any help.

    Zach

Looks like some type of Citrus. It's likely to be a seedling judging by its thorniness.
