This plant appeared on a path behind our garage. It is an area that was cleared a year ago. I am not sure if it some kind of fern? I have not seen any more like it. I would describe the leaves as feathery. It is just over 1 foot tall. Exact locale is South Pender Island.

Not a fern. I suspect a weedy member of the mustard family.

I have just looked at the weed guide on the your.kingcounty.gov website and it looks similar to the tansy ragwort. I will check out mustard family as well when I get to a faster internet connection.

You are correct about the Senecio, the leaf shape is distinctive.
