They call it Mellow Yellow, (quite wrongly)

    This was growing near San Antonio de Pomasqui, which is basically a desert. It forms up into small, shrubby trees and has these odd flowers.

    I am reminded strongly of Solanaceae but since just about half of everything in the highlands here is part of Solanum, (while the rest are either part of Fabeaceae or produce beans) that's no good start.

    Help?

    The first pic is a closeup of the flowers, while the second shows a bit more of the plant.

    Looks like a Nicotiana sp.

    Looks like Nicotiana glauca, a common weed up here.
