We have a property in a site which has thermal water, we would like to use the thermal water for irrigation in the garden. The salt content is 828mg per Litre, therefore the classification of the water is C3 a high salt content (if that means anything). Can anyone advise me further?

It has been recommended not to use is water on soils,I would like a second opinion.

Too much salt for most plants - that's a quarter of the salt concentration in sea water. Fine if you want to grow saltmarsh plants, but not for anything else.

Thanks for the reply… I wonder is their an inexpensive method of separating the salt out of the water before applying it to the garden

No! Or the world would be using it to extract fresh water from the sea. Plenty of very expensive methods, of course (look up "desalination" on google)

Can the water be diluted down by mains water to acceptable level?

Not worth it, you'd need to dilute it by something like 10 mains :1 thermal
