I recently read on one of my favorite blog sites about some of the really disturbing agricultural practices, that continue to plague the banana industry. While I am not a fan of vilifying an individual company, I think it's important for consumers to know what they are buying at the grocery store, and to be aware that there are possible alternatives. Here is a link from that Honduran blog: http://www.coopamerica.org/programs/rs/profile.cfm?id=215
Here's an additional link to the article in the wonderful blog I referenced. Some good plant pics & info in the archives. http://lagringasblogicito.blogspot.com/2007/04/real-cost-of-bananas.html
