Oprah Winfrey showed off a whopping 2lb truffle she has been gifted by the luxury Italian brand Sabatino Tartufi.
The company sells their 8oz truffle online for $1899.99, but the one Oprah received - which is four times its size - appears to be unique at the moment.

I wonder ... with some species, like B. Edulis, bigger is not better, i.e. the buttons are better gastronomically speaking. Does the same apply to truffles?

    Size doesn't matter
When shopping for truffles, avoid those with thick outer coverings and coarse bumps - because the thinner the skin and smaller the bump, the higher the truffle content, say chefs. And size is no indication of taste. Chefs typically request for 30g to 50g “golf balls” - industry-speak for nuggets as close to a perfect sphere as possible - simply as a matter of aesthetics.

8 Things Every Diner Should Know About Truffles

The best smell means the best truffle - when you buy truffle you're buying the pungent gas that the truffles give off not the shape or the size.

If you have two truffles around the same size but can't decide which one to buy try to balance them both in your hands. The heavier truffle is the best because it means it contains more water and is fresher. Size does not matter and has no effect on the overall taste of a truffle.
