OK, may be this will be easier... Looks like this guy is in full bloom. Nevertheless, I could not even go down to the family. I tried to dig into the flower but could not see anything - all stuff is pale-green. It grows on the bench, right at the edge of ancient Bonneville Lake, about 5,000 feet (1500 m). Any idea what is it?
You are right! It is Eriogonum. But then, it is still in bulbs. I have to watch it now until it opens to narrow it to a species. Thanks, David!
Thank you, teague. It is still to early to decide. I visited this place today and the plant is not flowering yet. The buds are slowly growing, though. The place is close to my work and I will visit it frequently to catch the premiere. I will keep you posted.
Finally it is blooming. Looks like this is Eriogonum racemosum. It has glabrous perianth unlike E. elatum.
