Thanks and a question re: plant id keys

    As a complement to asking for plant id help--any thoughts on getting connected to an electronic dichotomous key service (if there is such a thing)? It would be amazing (not to mention educational!) if we could bring our mystery samples to the computer terminal and through process of elimination, figure out what it is...

    Thanks for your kind words.

    Unfortunately, nothing comprehensive exists in terms of online dichotomous keys (in fact, nothing comprehensive exists for paper keys, either!).

    There are several programs out there for developing keys for export to the web. However, the keys that have been made with these programs tend to be very specific - not the sort of thing used for the kind of plant identification questions people generally have.

    I agree it would be cool, but I don't think we'll see something like you suggest anytime soon, sad to say.
