I wanted to thank everyone that collects and loves aroids for visiting my Exotic Rainforest website over the past few years. The site went on-line on December 6, 2005 and sometime during the week of Sept. 13, 2009 will record the 1,000,000th hit. I've placed a running counter at the top of the homepage so I can see when the millionth hit happens but just in case you're curious you can see it here: http://www.exoticrainforest.com/ The Exotic Rainforest is a non-commercial site and we offer nothing for sale so I'm personally very surprised at how many folks have taken the time to visit. Over 400,000 of the total hits have happened in the last 12 months and I have a sneaking suspicion this will happen while we are at the International Aroid Society show in Miami on either Saturday the 19th or Sunday the 20th of this week. I hope to see you there and thanks "a million" for making this happen! Steve www.ExoticRainforest.com
i see the counter note; don't see the total number, though :( just see the control for the music... was i the lucky 1,000,000th hit??? and do i get a prize if i was?? ;p seriously, though. i want to thank YOU for creating this website! it, and you, have been instrumental in my learning about aroids as well as nurturing my love of them!!! i was visiting your site regularly long before i joined this forum and was really pleased to see that you were a member here!!
:( all i see is: 'Since the ExoticRainforest went online the total number of pages viewed has been: ' and then the control box for the music. text size and monitor settings are what you recommend - i don't have ie 8 though.
Joclyn, if you are using Firefox that is likely the problem. I've had several people check tonight and the only ones that can't see it are using Firefox but in some cases even Firefox reads the counter. We have no idea why but Firefox blocks info from several pages on the site. There is absolutely nothing harmful on any of the nearly 400 pages but the Firefox coding doesn't like something. Apparently the problem does not happen with any other browser but if you're using another one and it happens I'd like to know. Once I posted this I had a report from Australia they could see it even with Firefox so my best guess is some setting on an individual computer. Try Internet Explorer and see what happens.
no, i use ie. have 7 not 8 on the computer at home and the computer at work. at home i can't see the number, here at work it's visible. larger monitor here at work, so, even though the setting is right (1024 x 768) i guess something has to give on the smaller one (at home). 994,921. a ways to go yet :)
Glad you see it. Not that far though. At an average of 1400 per day the number should pop on Thursday. We shall see! I'm shutting down shop. We're off to Miami for the IAS show!
oh, have fun, steve!!!!! i SO wish i could go!!!! maybe next year! (might have someone to watch the ferrets for me ;) )
