Hello. Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but I am definitely new to this game. We have quite a large 'bare' back garden and want to brighten it up with some colour. Back in November we planted quite a few Daffs' and these have certainly made the garden a little brighter. We have decided to plant a load more bulbs for other plants. The other plants came with instructions to plant now and expect to see them in mid summer. Then very recently I purchased 15 Tarda Botanical Tulip bulbs (i know 15 is not a great number - but I don't want to spend much as I don't know what will and won't grow in our garden - numbers can always be expanded next year) I bought these from an eBay seller and when they arrived they had no instructions. I believe Tulips are a spring flower and so wonder if really they should have been planted last November at the same time as the Daffs. If I plant these bulbs now, would they have any chance of growing - OR would they at least be able to survive the full year in the ground so that they might grow next spring? If I need to store them, what would be the best way of ensuring they don't either dry out or go rotten? Thanks for any help with this. Dave (Steveneven is just a login name... its a long story)
Plant then straight away. They should be planted in the autumn alone with all other spring flowering bulbs. If you don't plant them they won't survive until next autumn out of the soil, they may or many not flower this year. Tulipa tarda ahouldn't have been expensive they are quite prolific and easy to grow.
