I have an overgrown Tangerine/Mandarin tree in the garden of my new house in Pensacola, Florida north west. This winter has produced a large amount of fruits but once tasted they have a high degree of acidity. I do not think this is normal but depends by other factors such as the size of the tree or that it has never been pruned, condition of the soil or other reasons unknown to me. It is a shame throwing away all these beautiful fruits!! Can anybody be of help? Thanks Giovanni
http://www.innvista.com/health/foods/fruits/mander.htm Acidity of Citrus is under genetic control for the most part. Clementines are frequently grown in colder climates than sweet mandarins can tolerate. Some are quite acidic.
