Would someone who is growing this plant comment on its culture and habit? I have read about it in The Jade Garden and would like to acquire a plant. Could anyone suggest a US source? Many thanks.
Not listed by either of two major print edition plant sourcebooks I have here. What does The Jade Garden say about its cultivation history in North America? Both do list one source each for the typical species, but not 'Superba'.
I do not have any information on the culture, but if you are not particular about the cultivar, Forest Farm has a Syringa sweginzowii. I have not been able to find too much information on var. 'Superba'. http://www.forestfarm.com/search/closeup.asp?PlantID=sysw069
Excellent, thanks Scross. The book states that the cultivar is selected for "the size of its pendulous flowers, though that may just represent part of a spectrum of natural variability" pg159 Thanks for taking a look around Ron B. I see that Arrowhead offers another S. sweginzowii.
Hmmm, haven't been on their website since the Spring. I like the new online ordering. But I am sure my wife won't feel the same way.
