What kind of vine is this and what's the best way to take care of it?
I love plants but I haven't had much success growing them typically.
I've heard that Ivy's don't do well in the direct Sun so I know it should be somewhere shadier but it's the landlady's plant, she doesn't want to move it and part of my rental agreement is to keep up with plants and landscaping.
Will it/can it survive in the direct Sun and through Winter if I just water it regularly. I was considering put a small trellis behind it to grow on. Not sure what else to do with it until it just start. Crawling along the sidewalk.

Yes to sweet potato - try the TAMU Aggie Horticulture web pages for information on how to grow these in your part of Texas (when it comes to farming and gardening it matters where a body is within that large state). Otherwise I see yellow colored foliage variants like this being used as summer annuals in my region - there may be one or a few widely grown cultivars with this feature on the general market. Purple-leaved ones are also fairly prevalent here.
