Hello Willard - wow, is this the small tree up toward Gower Rd?

When do you usually observe this in first bloom ?

I don’t have a convenient link to Sunshine Coast thread — EDIT - if I’d put my glasses on, I can see you’ve done it already herein - thank you @Willard

The few ‘Accolade’ blossoms on young trees on Franklin got wiped out with the cold snap.

One of the earliest ‘Whitcomb’ in town.
On Grandview Rd and Bonniebrook Place in Gibsons.

    Visible from 2 blocks away.
Tree planted by owner 22 years ago. He told me plenty of people have stopped by to photograph it over the years, including wedding parties which he particularly gets a kick out of.

You called this at 40% blooming in 2022 on March 6: https://forums.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/threads/sunshine-coast-gulf-islands.95067/page-10#post-424913

In 2022, it was a little farther along on March 11: https://forums.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/threads/sunshine-coast-gulf-islands.95067/page-10#post-425049

These do not look damaged, and it appears that you will be able to recognize a date at which you can say they're in bloom.

As of March 1, 2024 this is the best-looking ‘Whitcomb’ in town. I dare to say it is near peak bloom.

The diminutive ‘Whitcomb’ on 7th, up from Gower Pt Rd is about as good as it is going to get this year.

Another ‘Whitcomb’ on Franklin, west of Cochrane - this one on the south side of the street. Seems to be diseased, but still attempting to bloom.

The ‘Whitcomb’ at the Parks Yd on School Rd is starting to bloom, too - even though it’s snowing and blowing!

Wow I will go look next time -

Meanwhile, at Langdale BC Ferries March 01, 2024

I made a point of being early so I could look

the special twisted branch trees @Ron B knows correct name - it’s somewhere above in this thread

early blossoms during what’s recently been a hectic tempest of ocean sunrises and sunsets - blue skies with rain hail snow with 90km SE wind squalls today

I haven’t seen the lovely uniformed garden lady who is responsible for this display recently tho she knows we all appreciate her touch.

I especially note the blossoms growing from the graft “stump” (photo)

‘Okame’ on Gale Ave North looking very good today. Might be just past peak bloom, as I noticed some ‘red-eye’ on the flowers.

I was not here for the weekend snow, but there are still lots of signs of it in Langdale.

This nice ‘Whitcomb’ on Wharf Street has lost a few limbs, sadly.

Too bad. So far, it has the best 'Whitcomb' flowers I've seen this year.
