    Hi,

Can someone id this plant? Found growing on edge of Appalachian wood, N. Virginia mtns. All parts are pubescent, leaves are clasping and flower looks as if it might be sunflower (?) but is taking a lonnng time to open!

    Thank-you!

Could it be Helianthus tuberosus? I think those things are supposed to get really tall...these are not...but maybe because they have part shade during the day? Any guesses would be appreciated :)!
