Just how tall does Viburnum Summer Snowflake get and at what growth rate. The tag on the ones I purchased said 4ft. But from the things I have read online and the photos I have seen, it looks as if they get up to 12 or 15 feet. How tall have they reached at the UBC gardens? How many feet a year do they grow?
    Thanks,
    Barbaa

    Hi,

The ones here at the garden are about 10-12 ft in height (3-3.5m). Growth rate? Tough for me to say as they've been in the ground longer than I've been an employee, but I suppose 6in (15cm) a year would be a good estimate.

    Thanks Daniel,
So the ones at UBC are 10 to 12 feet any guess as to how old they are? How long have you been an employee there? Do you think they will get taller still? I am hoping that they will get to 15 feet.

The oldest Viburnum 'Summer Snowflake' plants in the garden were grown from cuttings taken in 1980, so they are 30 years old.

So it sounds like the maximum height for summer snowflake won't be more than 12 feet. Just one more question, how wide are your summer snowflakes?
    Thanks!

They aren't dead yet, so the maximum height has not been seen. Trees and shrubs not growing at least a little taller each year are dead or dying back. Even the tallest coast redwood trees make a little height growth every year.

Width is about 1/2 to 2/3 of height.
