We have noticed "pods" on many of our sumac trees. They are almost round, (about the size of a walnut) white with some red. They are easy to break open, and inside it looks like it has many white fuzzy seeds.
Chipmonks eat them, but we are not sure if these pods are egg sacks of some kind or seed pods or fungus?

    Thanks.
