Is that what I have here? and what are these like for cooking? anyone had any? smells like a pine mushroom almost. Very firm flesh.
Edible and tasty can be leagues apart. I find suillus pretty gross, but they are popular pickled among eastern europeans.
I agree with both comments above. I tend to find ANY kind of Bolete a bit on the icky side...but the Suillus even more so. It is edible...just not exactly tasty. Textures to most of this family (Boletes) is slimey...even when the pores have been removed.
Thanks... I will let you know if I decide to try some. Its just that there are so many of them and I only found 1 hedgehog mushroom. I may be annoyed enough to give them a fair go.
