    Hi there,

Need suggestion for a fruit tree that will flower, fruit and bloom in the 1st year please. This is going to be a gift for someone and they are looking to attract birds ( finches, bluebirds and chicadies) with this tree.

A nice purplish red or pinkish red colour will be nice. The recipient of the tree is in Zone 5b Canada.

One I had in mind was Crabapple "Royalty", anyone have others they will like to throw my way?

    Cheers

PS: Size wise, something around 15-20 ft in height should do for the yard

    Howdy Bullseye,
I am assuming you are referring to birds that eat fruits. That being the case, trees that produce lots of small fruits are better. How about Mayday, Chokecherry, Saskatoon, Honeyberry (Honeysuckle) or Mountain Ash (I prefer American)? There are crabapples or flowering crabs that produce very small crabs, about the size of a small pea. A good one is Snowcap, bred in Beaverlodge, Alberta.
    Peace
