Hello can anyone please help me with any advice in reference to picking, storing and propagating these seeds. the scientific name is Arenga Pinnata, acording to the little info i have the tree blooms when 10-12 years old, and the fruit takes 2 yrs. to ripen, my specimen has started to bloom and i have some seeds. There is also 3 more seed bracts sprouting from different heights of the trunk. Its quite amazing.
They should only be handled with gloved hands, will cause a nasty rash on bare skin. They should be reddish/purple when ripe. I wouldn't store them, just sow as they ripen. http://www.worldagroforestry.org/sea/Products/AFDbases/af/asp/SpeciesInfo.asp?SpID=119 HTH Chris
