I have a couple Saxifraga plants growing in containers that seem to be suffering. They have quite a bit of dead looking plant matter, and are not forming the thick mossy growth I was hoping to see. They are starting to bloom though, which is nice, but I'm not seeing any new growth.

Attached are photos of two different beds.

The first I was hoping to do a mixed growth of Saxifraga and mint. But, umm, the mint seems determined to take over everything it can. Can mint and Saxifraga co-exist? Or are they doomed to fight a war of attrition? Will either side survive?

The other picture is just Saxifraga growing by itself.

Both plants get quite a bit of water in the winter, and are in areas that are fairly sunny right now, but will get a bit more shaded when my annual vines grow in.

Are they getting too much water? I thought Saxifraga liked moisture...
Did they get winter killed? These ones are rated for our growing zone...
Is it wind damage? It can get a bit breezy up here for containers on our third floor apartment...

    Any thoughts, comments, or ideas?
