I'm plant sitting this plant for a friend volunteering out of the country for a few months. She didn't mention the name of the plant when she left, but said it needed indirect sunlight and to be watered every two/three weeks.
The plant isn't doing well, and I'd like it to survive and flourish before her return next month.
Any help on the name and/or ways to help it would be very appreciated!

May be a Dracaena dermensis 'Janet Craig'.
In what way is it not doing so well?

Could also be Cordyline frucitosa. Do you have a shot from further back?

Thank you so much for your responses! I think it may be the Janet Craig Dracaena. The plant is loosing it lower leaves, and the remaining ones are getting very dark and cracked with browning edges and holes. The upper part of the plant seems to be a fresher green and healthier, if a bit droopy.

I'm guessing it may need more water? She had said not to over water, so I've been doing it about every three weeks as opposed to two. Also, are there specific fertilizers I should be using to bring it back? Do you think more light would help?

I've attached two more pictures if that helps. Thanks again for your responses!

Canes are very fussy when over watered, they love to have almost bone dry soil conditions. Watering should be only wen the pot feels very dry. Keep plants away from forced air heat vents. Mites can be a problem, fungus is not any better, while thrips are a problem too.
