We have been in our house for near enough ten years now and suddenly in the front and at the very end of out back garden our roses, trees, bushes and all the little shrubs have just died. i have no idea what could have possibly killed them as they are in two completely different locations. i have attached a couple of images to show you what has actually happened. If anyone knows what has happened and how to resolve the problem please reply to this post. Thank-you
Which "Essex" are you in, please? I can think of one in England and at least three in Canada -- kind of need that to help figure out the problem. keke
The good news! In pic 9, it looks like a very healthy Euphorbia. The dead bits are the faded flower stalks. Bad news. Hmmm. Have you or a neighbour been using any chemical sprays? What are the plants like in the garden next door? Are they also having problems? The grass looks almost brown. Have you had it hotter than normal this year?
I see that, as occurs here every year the lawn is dried out. At least part of what you are seeing may be drought effects. Perhaps the dead rose in the first shot was killed by that, although here established roses usually seem to be able to get by without watering. Otherwise, maybe a soil-borne pathogen like Armillaria or Phytophthora is at work.
The only sprays that have been used are the sprays by the council to kill the weeds, we dont like to use them, don't want to take any risks by accidently killing any plants
The second picture of the shrubs looks like the plants have been over watered and are dropping their leaves because of some sort of root rot or humidity problem. The rose could be a number of things, drought, disease, pests etc. The plants that have died in small sections underneath could be that not enough light is getting to those areas due to the other bushes around them, try pruning them back and see if that helps??
