My gorgeous Fremontodendron failed to appear this spring!

It was in full blossom last year!

    It has flowered for years.

How long do they live, and what went wrong?

    Help!

They have a reputation for being short-lived (one of my books says only rarely as much as 20 years). How old was it?

Is that 'Madame Gregoire Stachelin' there with it? My plant of that disappeared last year.

The fremontodendron here fell over and I cut it off. Try to replace yours with a small specimen that is not rootbound.

    RE: RON B:

Am not sure what you are trying to say in your reply Ron.

Whom or what is "Madame whatever"?

    I guess it's a reference to a species of fremont?.......Yes?.......No?

If so, I would not have a clue!

As for the root bound thingy, the Fremont was about 30 years old and about 20 feet high, (see my attached photo in my first thread) so I guess it was not root bound!(Unless you are refering to a new one)!

Maybe I missed something in your reply!

    Best regards,

    Ken.

    It's a rose cultivar: http://www.classicroses.co.uk/roses/m/mme_gregoire_staechelin.html
Ron is asking if the rose growing up through the Fremontodendron is that cultivar.

In that case, I guess its demise can be put down to old age!

Sorry, it looks like I have gotten the wrong end of the stick with R.B, didn't realise he was asking what the Rose was growing in the branches of the Fremont in my photo.

I guess it's a language thing, a bit like posting Threads, gotta have the right question to get the right answer!......Yes?

Thanks for the info of my now "Brown Bread" Fremont, it must be as you say, old age!

    Nothing is forever!

Gotta go now, my blueberry plants have just arrived from the nursery, they look a bit dry, have gotta give em a drink of rainwater!

Best regards to all who have responded to my cry for help,

    Ken.
