I found this succulent plant in the South of France. The big green to red "stems" have purple stripes on the underside and are covered with little "leaves" on their margins. Thank you very much for your help.
The common name is "Mother of thousands" Those are baby plants growing on the edge of the leaf, each can be grown on,hence the name.Latin name I believe is Kalanchoe Daigremontiana.
Thanks, too! I've got thousands of these things growing and I had no idea what they were.... Lovely red flowers, though, when they bloom.
This page says Bryophyllum is only a section of Kalanchoe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalanchoe_sect._Bryophyllum What do you think ?
According to the Royal Horticultural Society [RHS] Plant finder 2007-2008 Bryophyllum has been renamed Kalanchoe.
Dunno, my most current books (2007) say that Bryophyllum only has one species in it, and that all the rest belong to Kalanchoe, but they obviously can't be trusted (viz the Lonely Stumper).
