Hi, I have a succulent that is falling over. It grew without much light for the first little while that I had it, and then I moved it into a quite bright location, so the bottom is quite small and weak, and the top is quite healthy and heavy (see pictures below). Most of the leaves have fallen off at the bottom, but from pictures I've seen this seems to be normal. Is there anything I can do to make it grow straight and not fall over? I have it staked right now just so it won't fall out of the pot, but I'd like a better solution. Thanks.
It looks rather like Sedum craigii, a species that normally has pendant stems. Its best to grow it in a hanging basket.
You should be able to cut off the top and re-root it; I've done that with various succulents including sedums (and these seem especially hard to kill!) Also the leaves would probably root and grow you new plants, so you aren't "stuck" with this one if you really don't like how its grown...perhaps you could try un-tying the stem from it's support to see how/if it can lie down as CS suggests it's could for a hanging basket before trying any surgery. Good luck with it.
