Tropical, shady condition, groundcover. Small with nice leaves and showy flowers. Photo close to lifesize, maybe a little big. Soft-spiny seed pods. Not a profuse flowerer, so maybe less well known. Does anyone recognise this plant ? All the best, Matt
Dissotis rotundifolia I believe. http://starrenvironmental.com/images/search/?q=dissotis+rotundifolia&o=plants HTH Chris
Tibouchina heterocentrons is a synonym for Dissotis rotundifolia. Thanks everyone ! Despite having a couple of (unidentified) Medinilla, I didn't recognise the Family (Melastomataceae) maybe next time. Matt
Those distinctive leaves are the key, actually. We have a lot of Tibouchina and the other Melastomataceae here in Ecuador, too.
