Stump shavings

We have cut down a tree in the back yard. Next week we are going to have the stump grinded out. Can I keep some of the shavings for mulch? What kind of plants will benift by these shaving?

It was a Mulberry tree

 

Have you had it ground down yet? Did you ever find out if you can use these shavings for anything?
