    Hi,
I'm having trouble pinning this one down. I think it's an Ash but can't tell what type.

The white flowers have an unusual (and not entirely pleasant ) smell.

It is a multi stemmed tree and is about 20 ft tall.

    Any help is appreciated!

It's a rowan (Sorbus) not an ash (Fraxinus)

Micheal F, I dont dispute the Rowan as a common name (some of the clients from the UK taught me the name) but we do freely use the term mountain ash for some of the Sorbus here in North America.
Common names , what a wonderful riddle at times.
