Does anyone have any inspirations or suggestions for the part of my garden that is next to the road?
My entire garden is landscaped - no grass. Everything is great except approx 12" next to the road. This is a weedpatch. I have tansy, day lilies, geraniums and mint at the front on the municipal frontage part but they don't grow in this weedpatch area even when I keep it free of weeds. It could be there is some salt there from the snowbanks over winter preventing more desirable plants from growing there.
I could just put rock chips there but I thought maybe someone had some ideas I could try first.

I just alternated terra cotta colored flagstone and variegated boxwood in the strip between the sidewalk and curb at our place, replacing bark mulch with small decorative gravel retained by edging called Benda Board.
