Couldn't that be a good thing in some urban situations? It would depend on the percentage of plants affected and where they are growing to determine if the food chain may be affected.

If I thought shining lights on the Douglas Fir trees (Pseudotsuga menziesii) in my garden would rid them of the aphids that continually drop honeydew on everything, I'd be all for it.
With zillions of fir trees in the area, I don't think it would threaten the food chain much at all.
