I'm spending the holidays with my daughter in an attractive neighborhood of East Portland, just across the river from down town. Yesterday took a 20 min walk with the dog, and snapped some of the street and yard trees. Maples are heavily planted, with a huge number of paperbark as street trees, many quite large. Lots of JMs and Vine maples, as well as some other species. A large number of C kousa full of buds for next year, as well as the requisite Mahonia, Cotoneaster, Pieris, Rhodos, not to mention rosemary's and sages of all kinds. Very attractive even in winter, as are the small houses. Here are some of the maples.
Would this be Portland Oregon? Or is there a french Portland? Definitely looks like North american home construction!
Portland Oregon indeed! A little enclave of a neighborhood not far from the tracks, very quiet and agreeable. Also had very nice visits now to the Hoyt arboretum and the Japanese garden, but that will be another post.
