Hello Folks: I saw Bombylius major (bee-flie) in my Port Alberni Garden today. Have never encountered these before. I would like to know...friend or foe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombylius I have been putting up Mason Bee homes and I am hoping they are not attracting these. Should I be concerned I know it is a plant forum but, as grows the plants, there goes the insects. Thanks
Further reading, following the link on page in the Raingirl's link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombylius_major , tells us: The conclusion, to me, is as follows: "particularly", but not exclusively digging bees, looks like it can be any bees nest if the preferred ones are not available. Still, if I were you Raingirl, I would do more research to make sure.
