My first post here. I have searched this forum for previous identifications of this plant. No luck, so I ask your help in identification. The plants grew in a newly cleared area on my property. I do not recall ever seeing them before on the land. Rapid growing, what appear to be small fleshy fruit after a small white bloom. The most striking thing for me is the large very sharp spikes, numerous on the stems and leaves. This is from the east central Florida area about 9 miles from the coast.
Thank you for the prompt answer. After looking up the scientific name you provided, that is precisely what I have growing. This forum is just awesome. - floridadave
