Strange vine in southeast Florida

    Pulled this out of the ground today and thought it would be interesting to find out what it is. The pods are clear on the inside and seem to hold a lot of water for their size. Any info would be appreciated.

    Are those root tubers edible? When we were young and a little bit reckless, we used to eat those tubers. But then, we also experimented in eating other stuff we collected in the primary tropical jungle close to our house. It's amazing we are still alive to tell tales.
